If you have glaucoma, reducing your eye pressure is critical.

Open-angle glaucoma (OAG) is a disease that damages the eye's optic nerve and causes gradual, irreversible vision loss. OAG is associated with increased pressure in the eye, called ocular hypertension (OHT). While there is no cure for glaucoma, treatments that lower eye pressure may help to prevent or slow down vision loss. AbbVie is committed to advancing treatment for people with OAG and OHT.

About The Study

The 1833-201-407 research study will help investigational drug and drug delivery system for lowering eye pressure in people with OAG or OHT.

The investigational drug delivery system is a pinhead-sized medicinal dot inserted into the eye by the study doctor. The medicinal dot is designed to provide continuous delivery of the investigational drug for about 9 months.

Who Can Participate?

This study may be an option for people who:

  • Are at least 18 years of age
  • Have open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension in both eyes
  • Have an artificial lens from a previous cataract surgery
  • Are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant

There are other requirements to join this research study. A study team member will help determine if this study is right for you based on all criteria.

What To Expect in this Study

If you are interested in participating in this research study, the study team will complete a series of eye exams and assessments to determine if you are eligible.

If you are eligible and decide to take part, you will receive the investigational drug in one eye. You will use an approved eye pressure-lowering drop in your other eye every evening for about 2 years.

You will be enrolled for up to 39 months (about 3 years). During this time, you will have appointments with the study doctor every 1 to 2 months so they can examine your eyes and check your eye pressure.

The investigational drug and study-related procedures will be provided at no cost. You may also receive compensation for study-related time and travel expenses.

You Can Make a Difference

Research studies are an essential step in the process of developing new treatments, and they are not possible without the help of volunteers. If you choose to take part in this study, you will be playing an important role in advancing glaucoma research for people with OAG and OHT.

Thank you for considering this research study.
